An introduction to the art of preaching with a view to orienting students early in their theological training to key issues in preaching.
This unit develops a more advanced understanding of Greek grammar as a foundation for exegesis and introduces students to the textual variants and the principles and practice of textual criticism, the use of the versions and the canon of the New Testament. There will also be some reading of extra-biblical Greek texts.
These units introduce students to the study of the Greek language - its vocabulary, grammatical forms and structure and includes the translation of Mark 1-4.
These units cover the basic grammar and vocabulary of the Hebrew language as a basis for translation and exegesis of the Hebrew Bible for preaching and teaching. Biblical Hebrew B incorporates the translation and basic exegesis of a portion of the Hebrew Bible.

This unit deals with the background, exegesis and theology of sections of the Pentateuch.
The aim of this unit is to develop at a postgraduate level skills in biblical interpretation and proclamation in relation to a portion of the OT which has had significant impact on the development of Christian theology. In particular, it aims to enhance the ability of students to understand the book of Isaiah through a fresh literary and theological study in the light of new canonical/literary approaches, and the ability of students to engage with the hermeneutical and homiletic task of proclaiming this.
This unit deals with the Biblical idea of worship and its development in the history of the Christian church.
This unit is designed to help students understand themselves, their gifts and their experience in relation to pastoral ministry. It includes a study of Biblical models of ministry, the nature of guidance and vocation and the role of theological education in spiritual formation.
This subject surveys the development of Western thought and introduces students to the major philosophical concerns of that tradition. It provides important background for understanding theology as well as encouraging students to think critically.
This unit examines in detail the WCF in both its 17th century origins and its significance in the Presbyterian Church of Australia, and encourages students to develop their own theological thinking in interaction with the WCF.
This unit includes the doctrine of the knowledge of God (revelation, inspiration, Scripture, reason, authority, experience), creation, providence, humanity, sin and evil.
